Fox Control & Removal

Close up of a fox. The fox is one of those pests which garners a certain amount of love from certain people. Since it's a part of the dog family, and also has a number of feline characteristics, it shouldn't be that surprising. However, even if you think it looks cute, it can cause a lot of damage to your property, or livestock in the country. That's why at we have experts who are trained to deal with foxes effectively and safely.

The Problem With Foxes

If you have a pest control problem with a fox, the nature of the problem is likely to depend on where you are situated.

  • The Urban Fox. If you are in an urban, or suburban, location then the main issues tend to be causing havoc in the garden through activities such as digging up flower beds, or ripping through refuse bags. If you keep pets in the garden, like rabbits, then if the cages are not properly secured or if they run free, then they could also be in danger from foxes.
  • The Rural Fox. If you are in a rural area, you can have all the problem of the urban fox as well as a few others. If you keep livestock such as chickens, for instance, foxes may be a threat.

Getting Rid of Foxes

There are some legal restrictions on how to get rid of Foxes. For instance the fox hunt has been banned since 2004. It is also not legal to poison a fox.
A fox trapped in a cage at the bottom of a garden. There are two main methods for dealing with the threat of foxes, which the pest control experts at are trained in:

  • Live Trapping. This involves setting out a trap, a cage large enough for a fox, and planting it with bait. The bait usually has a strong odour so as to attract the fox. Once the bait is taken, this triggers the door to close, trapping the fox. The trap must be checked every 24 hours, but it is best to check it every 12 hours. Once trapped, the fox will be handled in a humane way.
  • Shooting. Although it illegal to poison foxes, shooting is still legal. Rifles are usually used to shoot the fox, and this is normally only deployed in rural areas.

In either case of course, it should only be employed by trained professionals such as the pest control experts provided by
