Bee Control & Removal Aberaeron

A pest control technician inspecting a bush for bees. Bees are one of the rare pests which do actually serve an invaluable service to the environment through pollinating plants, so much so that if they were to disappear altogether the human race could not survive. For this reason, and because their numbers have been dwindling in recent years, there has been a general reluctance to treat them as a typical pest control problem.
Having said that however, if the bees nest is hard to access and a local bee keeper is unable to relocate it, a technician from PestControl.co.uk will be able to get rid of the bees for you.

Identifying Bees

There are a number of different varieties of bees in the UK, but the two most common are the Bumble Bee and the Honey Bee.
The Bumble bee is of the kind that most people think of when they think of a quintessential bee, they are the fat and hairy kind. They will only sting if they are threatened or handled roughly.
The Honey bee is often mistaken for a wasp, being of similar size and colour. The easiest way to tell the difference between them is by identifying whether they are hairy; if so, it's a bee, and if not it's a wasp.
Whether it's a bee or a wasp, it is still a pest control problem of course. However if you do have a problem with bees rather than wasps then you might want to contact a local bee keeper first to see if they can relocate the nest for you.

How to Find a Bees' Nest

Once you have determined whether you are dealing with bees or wasps, the next thing to do is locate the nest. It's important to do this before you call on PestControl.co.uk, because if you don't have at least a general idea of where it is, it may be that it is not actually on your property in which case it may not be possible for the pest control technicians to do anything about it when they arrive.
So it's important to make sure that the nest is at least on your property. Remember not to get too close though, bees are much less aggressive than wasps but if you get too close to their nest then that is one circumstance when they can get defensive. That is also the main reason why you should never try to get rid of the nest yourself, only pest control technicians with the training and professional equipment have the capability to get rid of a bees' nest effectively and safely.
There are a number of common places to find a bees' nest, including;

Close up of bees on their hive.
  • In a chimney
  • In a shed
  • In a compost heap
  • Underground
  • Cavities in a wall
  • Inside a tree
  • Bushes
Unlike wasps, bees do swarm on occasion and this is likely to be around the entrance to their nest. Regardless of whether there is a swarm or not though, there is going to be a lot of activity around the nest so if you see lots of bees entering and exiting a location, such as a chimney or between tiles in your roof, that is enough to locate the nest.
If you are having trouble, pick one bee and try to follow that with your eyes, you should soon find one that will lead you back to the nest.
