North Sheen sits between Mortlake and Richmond in south-west London, a leafy residential area close to the Thames and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. The proximity to the river is a factor in pest activity here. Rats live along the Thames embankment and in the drainage channels that feed into it and they move inland through gardens and the network of Victorian drains that runs beneath these streets.
