Gun Hill is a small village on the higher ground of the East Sussex Weald, between Heathfield and Hailsham. The village takes its name from a cannon that was once placed on the hilltop and the elevated position gives it wide views across the surrounding countryside. The landscape is a mix of pasture, arable fields and patches of ancient woodland, all connected by the hedgerows and gill streams that are so characteristic of the High Weald.
