Wasp Control & Removal

Wasps are one of the nastiest pests out there, so if you have a wasps' nest nearby you'll want to get the pest control professionals in as soon as possible to come and get rid of it. Most people are frightened of wasps, and with good reason, but some try to perform their own wasp removal service anyway. This is a bad idea as pest control experts are the only ones fully trained in wasp removal, and are the only ones with the proper equipment to do it effectively and safely.

Identifying a Wasps' Nest

Only the female wasp stings (but male wasps are only around at the end of the season for mating).
The first step in wasp removal is identifying the wasps' nest. It is best to try to do this before you call in pest control technicians. If you don't know where the wasps' nest is, it might end up being on someone else's property, and in any case, valuable time could be lost trying to find it. Of course you should always be careful that you do not get too close to it as wasps will become aggravated if they feel there is a threat.

You might not even be able to find the nest itself, but if you can find a main entrance that will be enoughwasps in attic, which could be between tiles in the roof or a gap in a wall. Wasps do not swarm (so if you've got a nest where they are swarming, that's a bee's nest and you'll have to call in specialised bee controllers), but they do come and go from their nest regularly. Therefore there will be frequent landings and takings off at the entrance. Alternatively, German wasps (one of the two most common types in the UK, the other one being Common wasps) tend to build their nests outside, either in a tree or a bush, so that is another good place to check.

Wasp Removal

Once you have found the wasps' nest, or at least the entrance they are using to get to the nest, you should call in the pest control experts. They will be able to take care of the nest quickly and safely, usually without the wasps even becoming aggravated or knowing what is going on. img
Wasps communicate with pheromones, which is why if you kill one, nearby wasps can smell the danger and attack
The way wasp removal that is carried out is not actually to destroy the nest. In fact, as wasps very rarely re-use their nest, it can be left where it is. Instead, a special powder is either injected into the nest, or left at the entrance, so that as the wasps come and go they pick it up on their feet. This powder kills the wasps, and as they all have to come back to or leave the nest, it ensures that it gets all of them.

This is the safest and most effective wasp removal technique, and can only be carried out by pest control professionals because you have to be qualified to get access to the material necessary to do this. The process is quick, and always effective, meaning that it won't be long before your nightmare with wasps is over.
